Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall - 7:30 p.m.
January 2, 2012
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Two residents and one guest were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on December 29, 2012. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the December 5, 2011 town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: County Supervisor Arlyn Tober discussed the resignation of the county administrator and how that position will be covered in the interim. A committee is looking into options for the evidence storage building. The concealed carry law was discussed.
Public comment period: Ray Pockat was grateful that the water problem in his basement has improved since the water level in the pond was lowered.
Weed commissioner: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to appoint Mike Fritz as weed commissioner for the Town of Grant. Motion carried.
Liquor license: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the Class B Liquor license for Carol Polzin, dba Blue 52, effective January 15, 2012. Motion carried.
Budget Resolutions 2012-01: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve Budget Resolution 2012-01 which will place the managed forest taxes collected last year into the 2012 roads budget and to create an equipment fund using reserve cash. Motion carried.
Plan commission and zoning: The next meeting of the Grant Plan Commission will be held on January 10, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Members have been working with county zoning for map corrections. It was also noted that Steve Skotzke is going to need additional permits for his proposed building project. The board briefly discussed an anonymous letter written with regard to the dumping of items on the Grunewald property. Further action on this issue will be discussed at the February town board meeting.
Town hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for the following: Richard Britzke for July 8, 2012. Motion carried. The art club will meet every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, 4-H meeting January 8th, 4-H rabies clinic January 24th, Sanitary District January 19th and Lions Club on January 25th.
Caroline Dam: The hazard rating for the Caroline Dam has been revised and lowered. The inspection schedule was adjusted to reflect the new rating.
Roads: There was no discussion or action on roads.
Closed/open session: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to move into closed session according to ss 19.85(1)(b) and ss 19.85(1)(c) for employee considerations. Motion carried. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to move back into open session. Motion carried.
Action from closed session: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to increase the hourly wage for Mike Fritz an additional $0.25 per hour. Motion carried.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the payment of checks 7094 through 7129 in the regular checking account and 1112 through 1113 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
