Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
December 1, 2008
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Four guests and residents attended the meeting. Guests included County Supervisor Jerry Erdman.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on November 27, 2008. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the November town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: Supervisor Erdman addressed the board regarding security upgrades at the courthouse and the grant applications for environmental funds.
Public Comment Period: Gene Mehlberg spoke regarding the shower trailer on County Road G. County zoning will be notified.
Caucus: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to hold the town caucus on Monday, January 5, 2008 at 7:15 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall.
Plan commission: Gene Mehlberg reported that the county will hold an open house on its comprehensive plan on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. at the courthouse in Shawano.
Building inspection: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the contract for Larry Joos for building inspection services in 2009. Motion carried.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations contingent on receiving payment for the following: Jill Verg for December 6, 2008; reservation for December 14, 2008; and the following reservations which are approved and paid; Mike Fritz for August 22, 2009 and Betty Laatsch for July 18, 2009. Motion carried.
County Resolution: The Shawano County Resolution authorizing the town treasurer to collect and handle the tax payments was signed as presented.
Roads: Road grinding and graveling is completed. The new snowplow truck is approximately one-third completed and should be ready for delivery soon. Snow fence is erected. Vandals have been pulling out road signs during the night time hours. Anyone with information about the vandalism should report it to a town board member.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the payment of checks 5901 through 5929 in the regular checking account and 1039 through 1041 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Budget resolution: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve budget resolution 2008-03. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
