Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
December 6, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Eight residents and guests attended the meeting. County Supervisor Jerry Erdman was also present.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on December 2, 2010. A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the minutes of the November town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: Jerry Erdman spoke about an invasive species grant the county will use to monitor boat washing and other related issues. The final grant payment to the town for the dam project was received.
Public Comment Period: No Comments.
Plan commission: Robert Rice addressed the board regarding his property. He related the history about how he developed the property and the communications he had with the county regarding it. Board and plan commission members will use this information to make some decisions about the trailers and privy outbuilding on the property. A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to nominate Dale Klitz as a liaison between the county and town for all matters connected with the comprehensive plan. Motion carried. The next plan commission meeting will be held on December 14th at 3 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall.
Fire Department: The fire at the mill was discussed. An excellent job was done by all those involved. John Henselin provided a list of the recently elected officials for the department.
Building inspection: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the contract for Larry Joos for building inspection services in 2011. Motion carried.
Caucus: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to hold the town caucus on January 10, 2011 at 7:15 p.m. with the town board meeting to follow immediately. Motion carried. Please note that the town board meeting will be held on the SECOND Monday instead of the first Monday in January.
Resolution 2010-02: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve Resolution 2010-02 in support of the county zoning ordinance. Motion carried.
Ice Racing: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to authorize ice racing on the Caroline Pond for the 2011 season. Motion carried.
Operator license: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to approve an operator’s license for Jessica Parker. Motion carried.
Caroline Dam: The final documents for the dam project are completed. There will be a public hearing held in conjunction with the county to establish the zoning classifications. The final bill to Becher Hoppe will be paid. The board discussed the loss of power to the dam gates and turbine due to the fire at the mill. The town’s insurer will be notified.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for the following: Tiffani Johnson on December 11, 2010. Motion carried. Other scheduled events include Lion’s on December 10th, 4-H meeting on December 12th, sanitary district meeting on December 14th and the 4-H Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party on December 29, 2010. Maintenance items were discussed.
Roads: No action was taken.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6685 through 6729 in the regular checking account and 1091 through 1093 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
