Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
December 7, 2009
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Seven residents/guests attended the meeting. Guests included Scott Schewe and County Supervisors Jerry Erdman and Arlyn Tober.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on December 2, 2009. A request to use the Caroline Pond for ice racing was added for discussion. A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the minutes of the November town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: The county supervisors provided an update on potential buyers for the Maple Lane facility and a proposed addition to the courthouse for security purposes.
Public Comment Period: Dave Krueger addressed the board about three individuals from the township who are interested in taking the EMT training course. The board will consider this when reviewing the budget amendment.
Presentation: Scott Schewe representing the Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Program, spoke to the town board about its Section 457 plan. Town employees would have an option to contribute money into a tax-deferred savings program.
Election inspectors: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the following persons as election inspectors for the two year term of January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2011: Sandy Bowers, Barbara Huebner, Crystal Jung, Sue Raether, Ruth Kopitzke, Joanne Kostlevy, Sharon Lozier, Mary Mengert, Janis Radies, Dorothy Lundt and Yvonne Schoen. Motion carried.
Plan commission: Gene Mehlberg reported that the next plan commission meeting will be held on December 17, 2009 at 7: 00 p.m. at the town hall. Jim Radtke is resigning his position.
Building inspection: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the contract for Larry Joos for building inspection services in 2010. Motion carried.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for the following: Shawano County Health Department for an H1N1 vaccination clinic on December 17, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m., Tiffani Johnson on December 19, 2009, 4-H Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party on December 30, 2009, and 4-H Rabies Clinic on January 9, 2010. Motion carried.
Roads: The board set a rate of $60.00 per hour for the delivery of salt sand and other requests from individuals requiring the use of the dump truck.
Budget Resolution 2009-03: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve Budget Resolution 2009-03. Motion carried. The budget was amended to move funds from the miscellaneous category to cover extra expenses in the categories of town hall maintenance, ambulance, comprehensive plan and EMS. The EMS increase will cover the request for funds for the training classes as presented by Dave Krueger.
Ice Races: Chairman Britzke was approached about the possibility of holding the ice car races on the Caroline Pond since Marion is not available. No action was taken since this was not on the official agenda.
There may be a meeting before the end of the year to address this issue.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the payment of checks 6289 through 6330 in the regular checking account and 1069 through 1070 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
