Grant Town Board Meeting
Monday, February 1, 2010
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Grant Town Hall.
Roll call: Board members present: Richard Britzke, Dale Klitz, Bill Bowers. Kay Blum, clerk and Rick Grunewald, treasurer, five residents and one guest were in attendance.
The agenda was published in the Marion Advertiser on January 28, 2010. The Caroline Dam was added by posting. Motion by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Minutes: Motion by Bowers/Britzke to approve January 4, 2010 regular board meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Public comments: None
Plan Commission: Ken Huebner reported on items discussed at the recent plan commission meetings. Issues with the cheese factory property are unresolved as Mr. Skotzke failed to attend the meetings and answer questions that have arisen. The commission made recommendations on a conditional use permit and variance for Shawn Peebles and a property on Uecker Street.
Zoning Issues: Motion by Bowers/Britzke to approve a variance recommendation to the county for Shawn Peebles for a garage and a conditional use permit for a used car lot. Motion carried. Motion by Bowers/Britzke to approve a recommendation to the county to correct an error in mapping with regard to property located on Uecker Street. Motion carried.
County Update: Jerry Erdmann spoke about the sale of Maple Lane, courthouse security, and recent discussions about reducing the size of the county board.
Caroline Conservation Club: Troy Malueg addressed the board. Motion by Klitz/Bowers to approve a request by Caroline Conservation Club to plant flowers, prairie grass, and erect an eagle’s nest on town property located at Trieglaff Road. Motion carried.
Meeting: Britzke, Bowers, and Klitz will attend the Wisconsin Towns Association District meeting to be held on February 19, 2010 at The Gathering in Shawano.
Caroline Dam: Motion by Bowers/Britzke to approve Mike Fritz as the Dam Operator and Emergency Action Coordinator, Richard Britzke and Dale Klitz as alternates, and Steve Verg, Jeremy Karst, and Ray Pockat as local observers of river conditions. Motion carried. Motion by Bowers/Klitz to approve the installation of a light warning system designed to detect high water conditions which in turn will give notice to nearby citizens to contact the dam operator. Motion carried.
Town Hall: Motion by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for the following: Sherry Kraeger on June 5, 2010; Audrey Pockat on February 20, 2010; Troy Laatsch on July 18, 2010; Shawano County Health Department on February 25, 2010; and Ralph Wuske on January 1, 2011. Motion carried. Motion by Bowers/Britzke to approve Steve Verg’s request to hold a Lead Safety Refresher Course at the town hall on March 15, 2010. Motion carried.
Roads: Board members discussed brush cutting on various roads and a request by Pat Lehman for the proposed installation of two new driveways on property located on Maple Lane. Motion by Bowers/Klitz to approve the purchase of chainsaw protective chaps and helmet and hi-visibility vests and t-shirts for employees. Motion carried.
Pay Bills: Motion by Britzke/Klitz to approve payment of checks 6358 through 6387 in the regular checking account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: Motion by Britzke/Bowers to adjourn. Motion carried.
