Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
February 2, 2009
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Grant Fire Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Ten residents and guests were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on January 29, 2009. Additional items added for discussion included the fire department, ambulance purchase, baseball diamond, and shower trailer. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the minutes of the previous town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: Arlyn Tober and Jerry Erdman spoke briefly about county issues. Jerry stated that the ATC grant applications should be finalized by the end of February.
Town insurance: The board met with Tom Ketchum of The Horton Group to review and update the town’s insurance coverage.
Zoning: The board met with Dave Haas regarding the excavation of a pond on his property. The board advised Dave of the steps to take for this project. A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to nominate Bill Bowers and Jim Radtke to serve as representatives for the Shawano County Zoning Code Advisory Committee. Motion carried.
Town hall: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve town hall reservations for Zion Lutheran Church on February 8, 2009; Caroline Sanitary District on February 10, 2009; Debra Norder on March 7, 2009; Jill Verg on August 1, 2009; Gina Jobe on November 27, 2009; and Arlene Wuske on January 2, 2010. Motion carried. A bench will be donated to the park behind the town hall by the group that uses that area during Colorama.
Plan Commission and Building Inspection: No action was taken on either of these items.
Roads: An axle on the grader is broken and needs to be replaced. The board also discussed the tires on the grader.
Caroline Dam: The payment for the emergency spillway repairs on the dam has been submitted. The town will retain the final payment to Great Lakes Marine until some minor repairs are completed on the dam in the summer.
Shower trailer: County zoning continues to pursue action on the shower trailer.
Ambulance: Chairman Britzke reported that Clintonville Area Ambulance Service may have enough funds available for the purchase of its new ambulance, allowing the town to retain its ambulance fund at this time.
Baseball diamond: Dale Klitz reported that Zion Lutheran Church is willing to sell some of the land adjacent to the grandstand and baseball diamond to the town. Currently, church property is regularly used by spectators during baseball games. This issue will be discussed at the town annual meeting.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 5975 through 6018 in the regular checking account and 1047 through 1048 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
