Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall - 7:30 p.m.
January 5, 2009
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Six residents and guests were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on January 1, 2009. Added for discussion was the Wisconsin Towns Association District meeting. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the December 1, 2008 town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: County Supervisor Arlyn Tober reported that the highway department is over budget due to the expenses for snow removal.
Public comment period: The matter concerning the shower trailer is being handled by county zoning.
Operator’s License: Brian Holz appeared before the board with a request for an operator’s license. A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the application for an operator’s license for Brian Holz for the rest of the licensing period. Motion carried.
Lawn length ordinance: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve Town of Grant Lawn Length Ordinance 2009-01. Motion carried. The ordinance will be effective upon publication.
Weed commissioner: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to appoint Mike Fritz as weed commissioner for the Town of Grant. Motion carried.
Caucus: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to hold the caucus on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Motion carried.
Caroline dam: The board discussed the remaining bill for the dam repairs.
Roads: The new snow plow truck was delivered today. A logo has been designed for the town vehicles and the web site. Gary Strehlow, who was present at the meeting, stated he has a current CDL license and that he would be interested working for the town if the need arises. The old plow truck will be sold within a week.
Town hall: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for the following: Terry Mielke for July 25, 2009; Audrey Pockat cancel August 8 and reserve August 15, 2009; Ron Polzin for December 25, 2009; and Caroline Aces 4-H rabies clinic and meeting on January 10, 2009. Motion carried.
Closed/open session: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to move into closed session according to ss 19.85(1)(b) and ss 19.85(1)(c) for employee considerations. Motion carried. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to move back into open session. Motion carried.
Action from closed session: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to increase wages for Mike Fritz an additional $0.75 per hour. Motion carried.
District Meeting: Two board members will attend the district meeting in Shawano on February 12, 2009.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 5930 through 5974 in the regular checking account and 1043 through 1046 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
