Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
July 5, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald and Kay Blum. Four residents and one guest were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on July 1, 2010. A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the minutes of the June 7, 2010 town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: Shawano County Supervisor, Arlyn Tober, addressed the board about the county’s short term borrowing, digital radio and tower upgrades, the evidence building, and a juvenile program being utilized by Waukesha County.
Public comment period: Ray Pockat inquired if the town board would inspect the trees by his house on Uecker Street to determine if they are on the road right-of-way. He is planning on having them removed. Town board members will meet there on Thursday, July 8th to inspect the trees.
Plan Commission/zoning: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to approve the proposed zone change for the Skotzke property from commercial to residential. Motion carried. The county grants final approval after a hearing. The next meeting of the plan commission is set for July 20th at 3:00 p.m.
Background checks: The clerk will draft an ordinance for approval at a future meeting regarding a new policy requiring background checks for first time operator and liquor license applicants.
Roads: The board discussed maintenance issues with roads. No action was taken.
Town hall: New carpet was installed on the handicap access ramp. There were no new reservation requests.
Baseball diamond: The garbage hauler will be contacted to empty the dumpster. The new stairs and deck are installed on the concession stand.
Dam: A bill from the engineer was reviewed. The DNR has not yet completed its review of the final documents.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6535 through 6567 in the regular checking account and 1081 through 1084 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
