Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
June 1, 2009
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:40 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Sixteen residents and guests were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on May 28, 2009 and additions to the agenda which were posted on May 30, 2009. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the minutes of the previous town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public comments: There were no public comments.
County update: Arlyn Tober stated that Randy Zastrow, Tom Anderson and Ron Ostrowski will be retiring this year. Budget cuts may mean some employees will be laid off or have reduced hours. Jerry Erdman added that the capital improvement committee plans to eliminate the grant program for the ATC funds so the county can keep the money.
Licenses: Action to approve a new agent for Primetime was properly posted at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to approve Heidi Holz as the new agent for Primetime Sports Bar & Grill. Motion carried. The board reviewed all the liquor license and bartender applications presented for approval. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the licenses for Primetime Sports Bar & Grill, Hidden Valley, Blashe, Peters, Tober American Legion Post 456 and Plain Sense, LLC. Motion carried.
Roy Kleisch Lease: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to deny the lease assignment with First National Bank. Motion carried.
Budget Amendment: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve Budget Resolution 2009-01 transferring a portion of the Managed Forest severance payment to roads and designating the sum of $10,000 from the environmental account annual fee payment for roads. Motion carried.
Plan Commission/zoning: The last meeting of the Plan Commission was held on May 24th. Ken Huebner reported that Melinda Barlow is currently working on zoning issues.
Town hall: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve town hall reservations for the following: Gordon Kopitzke for June 13, 2009; William Grunewald for June 27, 2009; and Mike Fritz for August 29, 2009; The August 22, 2009 reservation has been cancelled. Motion carried. The board discussed the volleyball court and a lock on the bathroom door in the basement.
Caroline Dam: The grates will be removed for sandblasting and the catwalk will be prepped and painted. The board will check with Fran Schider about the bid he submitted last fall for the catwalks.
Caroline Baseball diamond: Zion Lutheran Church will be voting on the proposed land sale to the town on June 7th.
Roads: Chairman Britzke will meet with a representative from American Transmission Company about some damage on Henselin, Haase and Church Roads. Crack sealing and chip sealing will begin soon in the township. Mike Fritz will talk to Scott Construction about requests for private driveway blacktopping.
EMT Scholarship fund: The board reviewed a letter from Clintonville Ambulance requesting funds to set up an EMT scholarship fund. This item will be on next month’s agenda.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6121 to 6150 from the general checking account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
