Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
June 7, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Board members Richard Britzke and Dale Klitz were present, Bill Bowers was absent. Rick Grunewald, treasurer and Kay Blum, clerk were present. Eight residents and guests were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on June 3, 2010 and an addition to the agenda regarding the 1946 Chevy Pumper which was posted on June 6th, 2010. Garbage collection was added for discussion only. A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the minutes of the previous town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public comments: There were no public comments
County update: Jerry Erdman and Arlyn Tober, Shawano County supervisors, reported that the zoning department is requesting fee increases. Sanitary permit fees will increase by $100.00.
Licenses: The board reviewed the liquor license, cigarette, and bartender applications as presented for approval. A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the licenses for Primetime Sports Bar & Grill, Hidden Valley, Blashe, Peters, Tober American Legion Post 456 and Plain Sense, LLC. Motion carried.
Baseball: Representatives from the Caroline Baseball Club reported that they will hold fireworks at the diamond on Thursday, July 1, 2010. A permit form will be provided. Lundt’s will be contacted for a light bulb replacement.
Plan Commission: Ken Huebner and Gene Mehlberg reported that the next meeting of the Grant Plan Commission will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Steve Skotzke submitted new plans for his property and those will be reviewed at the meeting.
Town hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve town hall reservations for Mark Kraeger on June 12, 2010 and Rick Grunewald on July 11, 2010. Motion carried.
Garbage collection: Garbage was not collected on Lenz Road this past week. The board will contact the new hauler.
1946 Chev Pumper: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the sale of the 1946 Chev Pumper to Shawn Peebles/Caroline Auto for $450.00 with the stipulation that the town gets first chance to buy it back in the event it is offered for sale. Motion carried.
Caroline dam: Great Lakes Marine Contracting completed the repairs on the dam today. The project is finished except for DNR approval of the documentation submitted to them and that has a tentative completion date of July 31. A letter from the DNR indicates that stricter guidelines will be in place with regard to dam inspection. An inspection schedule will be sent to the town sometime in July.
Roads: The board reviewed a culvert permit granted to Daniel Mielke on Kopitzke Road. Crack filling is completed on various roads. Chip sealing will be done on Homestead, Henselin, Gollnow, Burma and Mavis Roads. The board discussed other projects such as ditching, graveling and minor paving. An inspection of road signs revealed that approximately 100 signs will need to be replaced. The board authorized spending up to $2,500.00 from the environmental funds for sign replacement this year. All signs must meet certain requirements by 2014. There was a brief discussion of Rasmussen Road.
Payment of bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the payment of checks 1078 through 1080 in the environmental account and 6508 through 6534 in the regular checking account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
