Board of Review Hearing
May 19, 2010
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Board of Review of the Town of Grant was called into session by Chairman Richard Britzke at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Grant Town Hall, Caroline, Wisconsin. Roll call for members of the board included Dale Klitz, Bill Bowers, Richard Britzke, Kay Blum and M & K Assessment, Inc. represented by Kathy Bazile and Mike Pfankuch.
A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to nominate Richard Britzke as chairman of the Board of Review. Motion carried. Kay Blum will serve as clerk.
The proceedings were video recorded.
Blum presented evidence that at least one member of the board of review attended the Department of Revenue’s required training. Affidavits of attendance were filed for Dale Klitz, Bill Bowers and Richard Britzke.
Blum stated that she reviewed the assessment roll for errors or omissions and reported none were found. The Assessor’s Affidavit on the assessment roll was signed by the assessor and the clerk.
The assessors stated that they were present for the required two hours of open book held prior to the board of review on May 19, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall.
Kathy Bazile stated that the notices of changed assessment were mailed within the correct time, and included the date of the board of review.
Blum stated that the notices for open book and board of review were properly posted at the Grant Fire Hall, Plain Sense Printing and the Grant Town Hall and the town hall door by May 3rd, 2010. The same notice was also published in The Marion Advertiser on May 3rd, 2010.
No one contacted the clerk or the assessors prior to the open book or board of review to file an objection to their assessment. Some corrections were made to the roll by the assessors at the open book and those were reviewed with the members. No one appeared during the Board of Review to object or question their assessment and no one filed an objection form. The assessors reviewed various changes to the assessment laws and provided updates about the township’s current status.
A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers at 9:00 p.m. to adjourn the Board of Review. Motion carried.
