Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
May 2, 2011
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Roll call: Richard Britzke, Dale Klitz, and Bill Bowers, Rick Grunewald, treasurer and Kay Blum, Clerk. Nine guests and residents were in attendance. Guests included county supervisors, Arlyn Tober and Jerry Erdman.
The agenda was published in the Marion Advertiser on April 28, 2011. Three items were added by posting: Review and possible approval of operator’s license for L. Polley for employment at the Caroline Legion; Review and possible action on certified survey map for Verg; review and approval of driveway permit for Verg. Added for discussion was a request by M. Daley to build a fence on his property. A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the minutes of the April 6th town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public Comments: There were no public comments.
County Update: Supervisors Tober and Erdmann addressed the board regarding action at the county level. The floodplain zoning for the Caroline and Pella dams was approved by the county board. This information needs to be forwarded to the DNR so that the hazard ratings on the dams can be adjusted. The redistricting of wards is in progress. The most changes occurred in the western part of Shawano County due to decreases in population. Townships will have an opportunity to review the new districts this summer. The election recount resulted in five additional votes for Prosser and seven for Kloppenberg.
License: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the operator’s license for Lisa M. Polley for employment at the Caroline Legion. Motion carried.
Plan Commission: Gene Mehlberg reported on the open house held at the town hall on April 15th for review of the new county zoning code. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz that the town board adopt the county zoning code at the July 11, 2011 town board meeting. Motion carried. Robert Rice was mailed a letter regarding the conditional use permit setting forth the requirements he must meet prior to approval. He will need to make some driveway improvements for access to the county road before the permit will be issued. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to accept the certified survey map for the Verg property. Motion carried. A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the driveway permit for the Verg property. Motion carried. Mr. Daley will have to speak with county zoning for preliminary approval and then contact Dale Klitz before commencing with building a fence on his property.
Building inspection: There was no action on building inspection.
Roads: Road inspection was held on May 2, 2011. Some road projects will include the blacktopping of Weasel Dam Road as well as chip sealing and crack filling of various other roads. The clerk will do the paper work for the prevailing wage law and place an ad in the paper for bids. The board will do a budget amendment next month to designate $5,000 from the environmental fund be used to road signs and gravel. The graveling of Brehm Road will begin soon. The town will be reimbursed for a portion of the private driveway that will be completed at the same time.
Baseball Diamond: Some maintenance items are being taken care of at the baseball field to prepare for the upcoming season. The BABA and Little League are the only teams scheduled to use the diamond this year.
Town hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve a town hall reservation for Audrey Pockat for May 15, 2011. Motion carried. The landscaping bark will be removed and replaced with colored granite.
Payment of bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the payment of checks 6853 through 6885 in the regular checking account and 1100 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
