Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
May 7, 2008
The Grant Town Board met on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. There were six residents and guests in attendance.
The agenda was properly noticed by posting in the three public places in the Town of Grant 24 hours in advance of the meeting. The agenda included approval of a contractor for the fire tanker, approval of a contractor for the town truck, and a brief discussion of the deadline for grant applications and a list of entities to mail the application to. A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Fire tanker: Chairman Britzke called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The first order of business was a review of the fire tanker bids. Rick Grunewald stated that the town would get a discount if it ordered both the fire tanker and town truck chassis from the same company. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the purchase of a Sterling chassis from Quality Truck Care of DePere at a cost of $72,789.00 and to approve Custom Fab & Body as the contractor for the tanker body at a cost of $109,570.00. The total cost for the fire tanker is $182,359.00. Motion carried. Members of the fire department inquired about the possibility of purchasing a thermal imaging camera at a cost of $6,840.00 since the total bid for the tanker was less than the $190,000.00 approved at the annual meeting. The board will discuss this at the June meeting.
Town Truck: The board reviewed the bids for the town truck chassis. A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the purchase of a Sterling chassis from Quality Truck Care of DePere at a cost of $90,661.00. Motion carried. Rick Grunewald will order the two chassis and request bids for the dump body and plow equipment.
Grant: The board agreed to a June 20th deadline for the grant applications for ATC funds with approval at the July town board meeting. Letters will be mailed to several organizations and churches in the township.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
