Town of Grant Budget Hearing, Special Town Meeting and Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall - 7:30 P.M. -- November 2, 2009

Meetings of the Grant Town Board were held commencing at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Grant Town Hall. The budget hearing was followed immediately by a special town meeting of the electors. Notices for the budget hearing and special meeting were properly published and posted. The monthly town board meeting was held following the special town meeting. Roll call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Kay Blum, and Rick Grunewald. Six residents and one guest were in attendance.

Budget Hearing: Chairman Britzke opened the budget hearing at 7:30 p.m. Notices for the budget hearing and special town meeting were published in the Marion Advertiser on October 15 and 29 and posted in the three designated places. Residents were given copies of the proposed budget showing a levy of $206,705.00. There were no comments on the proposed budget. The hearing was concluded.

Special Town Meeting: Chairman Britzke called the special town meeting of the electors to order at 7:35 p.m. The agenda for the meeting is adopting the 2009 levy to be paid in 2010. A motion was made by Duwayne Radies and seconded by Steve Verg to approve Resolution 2009-02 adopting the 2009 town tax levy ($206,705.00) to be collected in 2010. Motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by Steve Verg and seconded by Duwayne Radies to adjourn the special town meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

Monthly Town Board Meeting: The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was called to order at 7:40 p.m. Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on October 29, 2009. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Minutes: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the October board meeting. Motion carried.

Public comment period: None.

County Update: Jerry Erdman spoke briefly about the county budget and a proposed sale of the Maple Lane facility.

2010 Budget: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the 2010 budget as proposed with a levy of $206,705.00. Motion carried.

Plan Commission: Gene Mehlberg reported that the next meeting of the Grant Plan Commission will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall.

Building inspection: No report.

Caroline Dam: A representative from the DNR inspected the dam recently and was pleased with the results. The preliminary flood plain analysis shows a larger buildable area for the cheese factory property.

Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve town hall reservations for the following: Linda Fritz on November 7, 2009; Caroline Aces 4-H on November 8, 2009, Audrey Pockat on November 14, 2009; and Marjorie Papendorf on November 26, 2009. Motion carried. The baby high chair will be replaced.

Roads: The shouldering work on Breitenfeldt Road has been completed. Snow fences will be erected soon.

Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6268 through 6288 in the general checking and 1068 in the environmental funds account. Motion carried.

Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
