Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
October 4, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald and Kay Blum. Six residents and guests were in attendance.
Agenda: Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was properly posted and published in The Marion Advertiser on September 30, 2010. The ambulance budget was added for discussion. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Minutes: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the September 9th town board meeting. Motion carried.
County update: County Supervisor Jerry Erdmann spoke briefly about the county budget. Most departments had to adjust their budgets so the county could limit the total increase to 4%.
Budget Preparation: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to meet on October 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall for budget preparation. Motion carried.
Budget Hearing: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to hold the budget hearing on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Motion carried. There will be a special town meeting of the electors immediately following the budget hearing for adoption of the 2010 town levy.
Plan commission: A hearing at county zoning will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. with regard to Steve Skotzke and the cheese factory property. A camper on Rasmussen road was discussed as was a proposed bridge project for Philip Laatsch. The next meeting of the plan commission will be held on Tuesday, October 26th at 3:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Melinda Barlow requested board members be present at the meeting to discuss the county zoning ordinance.
Building Inspection: No report.
Caroline Dam: Chairman Britzke will contact the engineer about the progress of the final documents. There was a discussion about the recent high water and the possibility of creating an extra spillway.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the following town hall reservations: Tara Meloy for October 9, 2010, David Pockat for November 25, 2010; Shawano County Health Department for a flu shot clinic on October 21, 2010. Motion carried. Maintenance items include a burner on the stove and a table that needs to be repaired. A pair of reading glasses was found at the town hall after Colorama weekend.
Roads: No action was taken with regard to roads. Blacktopping was completed on Weasel Dam Road, roadside grass is being cut and new road signs are being erected.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the payment of checks 6628 through 6651 in the general account and 1088 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
