Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
October 5, 2009
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald and Kay Blum. Four residents and guests were in attendance.
Agenda: Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was properly posted and published in The Marion Advertiser on October 1, 2009. The mutual aid agreement with the City of Marion was added for discussion. A motion was made by Klitz/Britzke to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Minutes: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the September 3rd town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public comment period: Ray Pockat complimented the town and fire department for the nice display of vehicles in the Colorama parade.
County update: County Supervisors Arlyn Tober and Jerry Erdmann spoke briefly about the county budget and Maple Lane.
Budget Preparation: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to meet on October 15th at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall for budget preparation. Motion carried.
Budget Hearing: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to hold the budget hearing on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Motion carried.
Plan commission: Gene Mehlberg reported that the October 14th meeting of the plan commission has been cancelled and that the commission will meet again when there are more items to discuss.
Caroline Dam: The DNR performed an inspection of the dam and found everything to be in order. The engineer’s documents are not yet completed and the DNR reports there is a six month backlog for approval of those documents once they are submitted. A letter was sent to Great Lakes regarding the final repairs.
Mutual aid agreement: Chairman Britzke presented a draft copy of the mutual aid agreement with the City of Marion for review. It will be signed at a later date.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the following town hall reservations: Kathy Krueger for October 10, 2009; Merry Salzman for October 11, 2009; Barbara Laatsch for October 24, 2009; Lindsey Buss for October 31, 2009; Larry Burgdorf for November 21, 2009; 4-H Hunting and Trapping Education for October 17 & 18, 2009; Dave Krueger for August 1, 2010; Jeffrey Kriesel for August 7, 2010; Betty Laatsch for July 16, 2011; and Justin Drefahl for May 16, 2010. Motion carried.
Roads: No action was taken with regard to roads.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6241 through 6267 in the general account and 1066-1067 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
