Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
October 6, 2008
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald and Kay Blum. Eight residents and guests were in attendance.
Agenda: Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on October 2, 2008. A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Minutes: A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to approve the minutes of the September 11th town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public comment period: Ken Huebner addressed the board regarding the condition of Uecker Street.
County update: County Supervisors Arlyn Tober and Jerry Erdmann spoke briefly about the county budget.
Budget hearing and November town board meeting: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to hold the Town of Grant budget hearing on Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Motion carried. A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to hold the next monthly town board meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2008 immediately following the budget hearing. Motion carried.
Town board budget planning: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to hold a budget planning meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. Motion carried.
Resolution 2008-04: A motion was made by Bowers/Britzke to approve Resolution 2008-04 authorizing a change in the spelling of Wahlers Road for the comprehensive plan. Motion carried.
Plan commission: Ken Huebner reported that there will be several meetings held throughout the county regarding its comprehensive plan. Contact Ken for more information.
November Election: The General Election will be held November 4th. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall. All residents are advised to bring proper identification to the polls, preferably a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, even if you are currently registered. If the address on your driver’s license is not up to date, then please also bring documentation showing your current address such as a recent bank statement or utility bill. A high number of voters are anticipated so allow extra time to vote on Election Day. Thank you.
Roads: Grinding will be done on 1.2 miles of Breitenfeldt Road this month. No other action was taken on roads.
Town hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for Audrey Pockat on September 28, 2008; Gina Jobe on November 27, 2008 and Ralph Wuske on January 3, 2009. Motion carried. A motion was made by Bowers/Klitz to purchase an accordion blind for the kitchen area from Mitch’s. Motion carried.
Dam repairs: The board reviewed an estimate for painting and sandblasting the catwalk and steel beams at the dam. This project will be done next summer.
EMT jackets/training: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the purchase of 8 jackets for Town of Grant EMTs at a cost of $2200.00 to be paid with annual fee environmental funds. Motion carried. An estimated cost for EMT training is about $1524.00 per year and books are another $1000.00. The board will consider these costs when preparing the 2009 budget.
Pay bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 5829 through 5855 in the general checking account and 1031 through 1032 from the environmental impact fund account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
