Town of Grant Monthly Board Meeting
Grant Town Hall – 7:30 p.m.
September 12, 2011
The monthly meeting of the Grant Town Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Grant Town Hall. Roll Call: Richard Britzke, Bill Bowers, Dale Klitz, Rick Grunewald, and Kay Blum. Nine residents and guests were in attendance.
Chairman Britzke read the agenda which was published in The Marion Advertiser on September 8, 2011. An item added for discussion was the Caroline Sanitary District. A motion was made by Britzke/Bowers to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the minutes of the August 3rd town board meeting. Motion carried.
Public comment period: There was a brief discussion about the decrease in the number of teams using the baseball diamond this summer.
County Update: Jerry Erdman reported that the budget hearing was completed and proposed budget sent to the county board for review. Approximately $500,000 was trimmed from the budget.
License: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to approve the applications for the temporary Class B licenses for the Caroline Lions Colorama to be held September 29 through October 2, 2011. Motion carried.
Resolution: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz approving Town of Grant Resolution 2011-02 adopting the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Agreement. Motion carried. Jeff Zimmerman from Shawano County Emergency Management addressed the board regarding the agreement.
Plan Commission/Zoning: Ken Huebner reported that the next meeting of the Grant Plan Commission will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant Town Hall.
Town Hall: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve town hall reservations for Linda Fritz on November 12, 2011 and Mark Kraeger on December 17, 2011. Motion carried. Other reservations include Caroline Lions on September 28th, CCDC and Caroline Sanitary on September 15th. Various maintenance items were discussed.
Caroline Sanitary: Shirley Grunewald submitted a letter of resignation from the Caroline Sanitary District board of commissioners. Shirley has held a position on the commission since 1990. Her service is greatly appreciated.
Building inspection: No action.
Caroline Dam: The water level and turbine were discussed. There has been no report on the status of the hazard rating.
Caroline Baseball diamond: A quote will be requested for a pole pad with a 56 inch circumference.
Grievance Procedure: The board reviewed a new mandate to create and adopt an employee grievance procedure.
Concealed carry: A resolution will be drafted to prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons in town buildings and on town property.
Roads: Items discussed included shouldering, grass/brush cutting and signs. Other ideas for possible road work were also discussed. More rolls of snow fence will be purchased.
Bills: A motion was made by Klitz/Bowers to approve the payment of checks 6987 through 7018 in the regular checking account and 1107 in the environmental account. Motion carried.
Adjourn: A motion was made by Britzke/Klitz to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
